You may be wondering why, having been able to browse Drop Recipes with no account previously, you’re now seeing the “Sign In” prompt.

Quite simply, the best way for us to comply with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as of May 2018, is to ensure that all users are logged in to use the app. By signing up for a free account, you’ll get to enjoy things like:

  • Saving your favorite recipes to your profile
  • Creating your own recipes using Drop Creator, our recipe-building tool
  • Reviewing or commenting on recipes
  • Receiving important product notifications and learning about new content

Also, if you ever run into any problems, it will be a lot easier for the Drop support team to diagnose what's wrong if you have a Drop account.

When we launched in 2014, we wanted to create an easy experience that allowed registered users to take advantage of personalized features, and people that would rather stay anonymous do so and still get to enjoy the app. Unfortunately, while the new GDPR is an absolutely amazing step for us all and the protection of our personal data, it does mean having to make changes in how we at Drop have users interact with the app.
